Vineyard: Ellis Alden Vineyard sits at an elevation of 1600 feet along the sun-drenched western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Alexander Valley. Isolated within a sprawling 4,000 acre ranch, the 200 acres of vines enjoy a pristine growing environment, above the fog line and sheltered from wind, frost, and negative pathogens. The Merlot is planted in volcanic soils on a gentle south-facing hillside, stressing the vines and yet soaking up sunlight, producing small crops of incredibly concentrated grapes.

Winemakers Notes: Lighter-bodied than the previous vintage, this wine is salty, racy, and refreshingly tart. It opens with bright underripe orchard fruit—yellow apple, Asian pear—layered over a distinct minerality of salt and slate. A crisp acidity keeps it vibrant, while neutral barrel fermentation adds just enough roundness for balance. A natural pairing for seafood, especially simply prepared crustaceans.

Winemakers Notes: 2023 produced a bumper crop of Grenache from our estate vineyard and we took the opportunity given by mother nature's abundance to make the fresh, lively, and fruit-forward "Fresco" for the first time since 2019. Neither a rosé nor a typical red, "Fresco" is a chillable, light-bodied wine in the Beaujolais-style using carbonic maceration, and is a wonderful easy-drinking accompaniment to a backyard BBQ or pizza night.

Vineyard: Best known for old vine Zinfandel and new plantings of Rhône varieties, the Dry Creek Valley is fully capable of producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon when the right conditions come together at a particular site. Since 1947, our neighbors the Gradek Brothers have farmed their unique property one mile up a remote canyon from the Dry Creek Valley floor. Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted around a rocky knoll with excellent drainage and several aspects. These features, combined with decades of family knowledge of the site, yield wines with deep color, tremendous concentration and beguiling complexity.

Winemaker's Notes: Dark and dense with a deep eggplant-purple hue, this mountain-grown Cabernet is bold and aromatically intense. Notes of black currant, black cherry, and dusty cocoa mingle with a woodsy richness—cedar, leather, and vanilla—evoking the warmth of a fire in a remote cabin. The palate is structured and concentrated, delivering layers of dark fruit and firm tannins with a long, powerful finish.

Tasting Notes: Composed of inky-colored Petite Sirah and structured Cabernet Sauvignon, the Riserva di Casa is the most cellar-worthy wine from our estate vineyard. There's solid depth to the violet, blackcurrant, strawberry, and blueberry aromas on the expressive nose of this blend. Polished tannins and a grippy texture uphold those weighty fruit flavors on the palate, wrapped with a firm tension of sweet spice and crushed black rock.

Winemakers Notes: This grape that hails originally from the Gavi region of Northern Italy grows beautifully in Northern California and produces an aromatic white loaded with texture and complexity. Fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels to retain freshness and varietal character while adding depth, this wine will appeal to white wine lovers of all stripes looking to explore something new with shellfish, basil pesto pasta, or a lazy afternoon by the pool.

When we first laid eyes on the Terrace Block at the Merrill’s Vinegrove adjacent to our winery, we knew we had found such a site. Planted on a steep south-southwest facing hillside a few hundred feet up from the valley floor, the combination of sun exposure, well-draining soil, and slightly cooler temperatures create the perfect storm for richly flavored, densely structured, classic California Cabernet.

Vineyard: Our estate vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, known as the "Vinegrove," is a few hundred feet up from the valley floor, providing respite from the hottest days of summer. The nearly 30-year old vines are planted in fine Laughlin loam soils and are organically farmed. The center swale rolls through several exposures, allowing for balance and elegance in our Grenache. The steep south-southwest facing corner block has the most porous earth and soaks up afternoon sun, creating richly-flavored and densely-structured Cabernet. Petite Sirah receives the first rays of morning sun, but otherwise stays cool in the lowest spot in the vineyard, bolstering acidity and color.

Vineyard: Six miles up Soda Canyon, 1,800 feet above the valley floor, lies the last frontier of the Napa Valley – it is here that the Krupp brothers carved out the spectacular Stagecoach Vineyard on Atlas Peak by excavating over a billion pounds of basalt, andesite, and tufa boulders. The well draining red volcanic soil and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts at this elevation provide an ideal terroir for slow ripening grapes that yield wines with both structure and finesse.
