Tasting Notes: 

Vineyard: The name To Kalon is whispered in hushed tones among lovers of Cabernet Sauvignon everywhere. There is something magical about the terroir at this valley floor site in Oakville that has produced world-class wines for generations of Napa Valley vintners. To Kalon sits on an alluvial fan deposited by ancient streams that flowed down from the Mayacamas mountains, establishing deep, gravelly, well-draining soils.

Vineyard: Ellis Alden Vineyard sits at an elevation of 1400 feet along the sun-drenched western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Alexander Valley. Isolated within a sprawling 4,000 acre ranch, the 200 acres of vines enjoy a pristine growing environment, above the fog line and sheltered from wind, frost, and negative pathogens. The Sauvignon Blanc is planted in a low spot in the vineyard where cool air collects, allowing the grapes to hang long enough to develop ripe flavors while retaining acidity.

Vineyard: Ellis Alden Vineyard sits at an elevation of 1600 feet along the sun-drenched western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Alexander Valley. Isolated within a sprawling 4,000 acre ranch, the 200 acres of vines enjoy a pristine growing environment, above the fog line and sheltered from wind, frost, and negative pathogens. The Merlot is planted in volcanic soils on a gentle south-facing hillside, stressing the vines and yet soaking up sunlight, producing small crops of incredibly concentrated grapes.

Vineyard: Best known for old vine Zinfandel and new plantings of Rhône varieties, the Dry Creek Valley is fully capable of producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon when the right conditions come together at a particular site. When we first laid eyes on the Terrace Block at the Merrill’s Vinegrove adjacent to our winery, we knew we had found such a site. Planted on a steep south-southwest facing hillside a few hundred feet up from the valley floor, the combination of sun exposure, well-draining soil, and slightly cooler temperatures create the perfect storm for richly flavored, densely structured, classic California Cabernet.

Vineyard: Bohan Vineyard, nestled on a remote Sonoma Coast ridge at 1,300-1,500 feet elevation and a mere 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean, is a pristine gem. Chardonnay vines, planted in 1972, thrive in Goldridge loam soil – eroded volcanic material combined with sandstone and alluvial deposits. Owned by George and Nikki Bohan, this 1,100-acre estate holds a storied history spanning four generations. The sustainably farmed fruit, imbued with their warmth and carefree spirit, and balanced by the temperate coastal climate, yields wines of tension and depth.

Vineyard: Best known for old vine Zinfandel and new plantings of Rhône varieties, the Dry Creek Valley is fully capable of producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon when the right conditions come together at a particular site. Since 1947, our neighbors the Gradek Brothers have farmed their unique property one mile up a remote canyon from the Dry Creek Valley floor. Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted around a rocky knoll with excellent drainage and several aspects. These features, combined with decades of family knowledge of the site, yield wines with deep color, tremendous concentration and beguiling complexity.

Winemaker's Notes: Dark and dense with a deep eggplant-purple hue, this mountain-grown Cabernet is bold and aromatically intense. Notes of black currant, black cherry, and dusty cocoa mingle with a woodsy richness—cedar, leather, and vanilla—evoking the warmth of a fire in a remote cabin. The palate is structured and concentrated, delivering layers of dark fruit and firm tannins with a long, powerful finish.

Winemaker's Notes: An expressive and layered Cabernet with a nose of black cassis, Tahitian vanilla, and graphite. The palate is bold yet balanced, featuring tart black cherry and a vibrant acidity that lifts the richness of the fruit. Chewy tannins provide structure, leading to a long, dynamic finish that speaks to the power and elegance of Monte Rosso Vineyard.

Vineyard: Star Springs Ranch (formerly Ellis Alden Vineyard) sits at an elevation of 1700 feet along the sun-drenched western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Alexander Valley. Isolated within a sprawling 4,000 acre ranch, the 200 acres of vines enjoy a pristine growing environment, above the fog line and sheltered from wind, frost, and negative pathogens. Our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a prime hillside spot on the North Knoll with southern exposure that packs the grapes with powerful structure and expressive flavors.

Vineyard: Ellis Alden Vineyard sits at an elevation of 1600 feet along the sun-drenched western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Alexander Valley. Isolated within a sprawling 4,000 acre ranch, the 200 acres of vines enjoy a pristine growing environment, above the fog line and sheltered from wind, frost, and negative pathogens. The Cabernet Franc is planted in volcanic soils on an extremely steep south facing hillside, stressing the vines and yet soaking up sunlight, producing tiny crops of incredibly concentrated grapes.

Tasting Notes: "Bright and focused aromas of lemon peel, flowers and chopped herbs swirl on the nose of this Savvy B. The palate comes drenched in acid, with pure, focused citrus character dominating before a finish loaded with pithy pink grapefruit, sage and lemon balm. 91 points." - Tom R. Capo, Wine Enthusiast

Deep dark purple in color, this wine is as structured as it is expressive.

Winemakers Notes: This grape that hails originally from the Campania region of Central Italy grows beautifully in Northern California and produces a crisp white with perfumey aromatics. Fermented and aged entirely in neutral oak barrels to add texture and depth, this wine will appeal to Sauvignon Blanc lovers looking to explore something new with a Caprese salad or simply prepared white fish with lemon, garlic and parsley.

Winemakers Notes: 2023 produced a bumper crop of Grenache from our estate vineyard and we took the opportunity given by mother nature's abundance to make the fresh, lively, and fruit-forward "Fresco" for the first time since 2019. Neither a rosé nor a typical red, "Fresco" is a chillable, light-bodied wine in the Beaujolais-style using carbonic maceration, and is a wonderful easy-drinking accompaniment to a backyard BBQ or pizza night.

Winemakers Notes: This grape that hails originally from the Gavi region of Northern Italy grows beautifully in Northern California and produces an aromatic white loaded with texture and complexity. Fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels to retain freshness and varietal character while adding depth, this wine will appeal to white wine lovers of all stripes looking to explore something new with shellfish, basil pesto pasta, or a lazy afternoon by the pool.

Winemakers Notes: Bright aromas of strawberry jam, cranberry, and toasty pie crust. A smooth, easy-drinking red that’s effortless yet layered. Petite Sirah provides dusty tannins and rustic depth, Barbera contributes racy acidity, and Grenache rounds it out with juicy cranberry, pomegranate, and black raspberry flavors. A wine that doesn’t try too hard—it just works.

Tasting Notes: Composed of inky-colored Petite Sirah and structured Cabernet Sauvignon, the Riserva di Casa is the most cellar-worthy wine from our estate vineyard. There's solid depth to the violet, blackcurrant, strawberry, and blueberry aromas on the expressive nose of this blend. Polished tannins and a grippy texture uphold those weighty fruit flavors on the palate, wrapped with a firm tension of sweet spice and crushed black rock.

The nearly 30-year old vines are planted in fine Laughlin loam soils and are organically farmed. The center swale rolls through several exposures, allowing for balance and elegance in our Grenache. The steep south-southwest facing corner block has the most porous earth and soaks up afternoon sun, creating richly-flavored and densely-structured Cabernet. Petite Sirah receives the first rays of morning sun, but otherwise stays cool in the lowest spot in the vineyard, bolstering acidity and color.

It opens with bright underripe orchard fruit—yellow apple, Asian pear—layered over a distinct minerality of salt and slate. A crisp acidity keeps it vibrant, while neutral barrel fermentation adds just enough roundness for balance. A natural pairing for seafood, especially simply prepared crustaceans.

Tasting Notes: "This intense and layered Grenache brings aromas of ripe raspberry, cherry coulis, sweet cinnamon, and violets on the nose. The palate is a deftly balanced tightrope of rich tannin, juicy acidity and swirling flavors of roasted cherry, cocoa, cinnamon and chopped herb mélange. Vineyard: The 30 year-old vines adjacent to our winery in the rugged hills above West Dry Creek are planted in a secluded glen with well-draining, gravelly Laughlin loam soil. At 300 feet elevation, the vineyard enjoys cooler temperatures than the valley floor and is above the fog line on most days, creating the ideal environment for a balanced, elegant expression of pure Grenache.
